Ubuntu 9.10 Launch -- Tomorrow on 29thOCT

The latest version of Linux distribution Ubuntu 9.10 will launch tomorrow on 29th OCT. It will be available for free download from 29th OCT.



Ubuntu 9.10 New Features:

  •  It has faster, simplified and better looking boot experience for most users.
  •  Improved sound control then before across multiple applications.
  •  Firefox 3.5: latest, fastest, most secure web browser yet from Mozilla
  •  A quick toolset which allows developers to automate ordinary functions and package code.
  •  OpenOffice 3.11 is also present in this Ubuntu 9.10 release.
  •  It also includes Ubuntu One file-sharing client and Ubuntu UEC (Enterprise Cloud) which supports Amazon EC2 cloud computing service.

The New Evolution of Email : GOOGLE WAVE


Google Wave, the latest product from Google which will transform the way how people communicate with each other whether its email messages, sharing videos or having a group conversation.  It is basically a real time communication platform that has captured the imagination of technology enthusiasts and social media

 So What Exactly is Google Wave?




Well Google Wave is a new communication and collaboration tool which runs inside a browser. Google Wave is already being called by some as the next evolution of email. It is a mixture of email, web chat, IM and project management software. It can provide Twitter updates, provides real time chat, Play back past conversations and even allows for drag and drop file uploads.

Let’s discuss some of the brilliant and innovative feature it provides.

Google Wave is a real time application which means that in most instances you are able to see what someone else is typing  character-by-character.

You can play any part of the conversation to see what was said earlier.

3. Brilliant Speller

It has a brilliant speller and it can auto-correct your spelling word by word, even going as far as knowing the difference between similar words, like “been” and “bean.”

4. Translation:

It can also translate on the fly, in 40 different languages while you type.

5. Drag-and-Drop file sharing:

No need to attach the files. Just drag and drop the files in Google wave and everyone will have the access.

Visual Studio 2010 Beta Released for Public




On Oct 21 Microsoft has released Visual Studio 2010 and .NET FX 4 Beta 2 for public. It is available for download from Microsoft website Download here.  A big change in VS 2010 which I noticed is now it comes with four editions.

1.    Visual Studio Express
2.    Visual Studio 2010 Professional with MSDN
3.    Visual Studio 2010 Premium with MSDN
4.    Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN

Some other features which I observed are

  1. New Functional programming language F# introduced.
  2. It is now possible to do coding, modeling, testing, debugging and deployment work using the same Visual   Studio 2010 environment.
  3. It supports cloud based application development which includes Windows Azure.
  4. It also supports Microsoft Office SharePoint development.
  5. Some new Project Management tools are also introduced which includes  new reports,dashboards and planning worksheets.

Several other features which are going to be released in VS2010 will be covered later ahead.
